Carlsberg- probably the best beer commercial in the world!

In my first post I’m going to talk about a stunt Carlsberg pulled off in a Belgian cinema.
The film was made as a joke. Carlsberg just dropped it on their facebook page but people liked it so much that the video started to live its own life. It has over 12 million views on youtube.

The stunt was launched because Carlsberg launched a new global positioning and baseline ‘That Calls for a Carlsberg’. People knew the brand but not what it stands for. With this film they want people to think  Carlsberg beer stands for tradition, quality and a great taste.

The commercial is filmed in a cinema in Brussels and there is a room filled with 148 bikers dressed in leather and they look dangerous. In the middle of the room are two empty seats and there are couples who want to go to the same movie, some couples decide to leave the room and other brave ones take a seat and the bikers give them a Carlsberg, applaud and cheer.

In my opinion this is a great commercial it’s very funny and original. I also like it because it’s a great way to advertise, it doesn’t cost a lot of money but it’s more effective than some very expensive campaigns you see on TV.

The commercial was made by Duval Guillaume, and it looks like they are doing well. At the CCB awards they won  7 gold, 3 silvers and 2 bronze awards for Carlsberg, Flair, De Lijn and Opvoedingslijn and they were rewarded with the  Creative Agency of the Year award.
